Equipping Our Ministry
OCTOBER 21 - NOVEMBER 18
5 weeks

Ephesians 5:1-2   Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are His dear children.  Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.  He loved us and offered Himself as a Sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

We have been claimed by God for a purpose – a mission.  In this series, we see how God is equipping us to be His agents in the world.  Further, we hear His call to live a focused, generous, sacrificial and Joyful life as we renew our commitment to our ministry as a congregation.

PUTTING ON CHRIST
Romans 13:6-14;   Colossians 3:6-14

SUMMARY
Our journey into Stewardship this year begins with a very important preparation.  Equipping for ministry begins with equipping ourselves, and one of the best ways to do that is to make sure we know who we are.  Putting on Christ is the way we claim our identity, our mission, our purpose.  We are then grounded in who we are because we know whose we are!

IMITATING GOD'S GENEROSITY

Romans 8:26-34;   John 3:16-17

SUMMARY
Generosity is not something God does, but rather it is a part of who He is.  Today, as we begin to explore how God is working in and through us as members of this congregation, we come to the inescapable fact that it is impossible to imitate God without imitating His generosity.  Some will exercise their gift of generosity while others will grow in their habit of practicing generosity.  As we do so, we will know God’s favor and blessings as grow in our awareness of our congregational call to mission and the privilege we individually have to participate in it.

IMITATING CHRIST'S FOCUS

1 Corinthians 9:19-22;   Matthew 6:17-24

SUMMARY
Throughout His public ministry, Jesus had one focus – to save lost sheep.  That focus carried through to the Cross itself, and His final words, when He declared, “It is finished.”  Today, we live in a time where our attention spans are short and focus is perpetually fragmented.  The ministry to which God is calling our congregation requires the focus that Jesus models for us.  His promise to us is that He will bless our dedication and devotion.

IMITATING CHRIST'S SURRENDER AND SACRIFICE

Philippians 2:6-8;   Matthew 19:16-22

SUMMARY
Jesus’ words in the Garden of Gethsemane did not come easy.  Surrendering our will to that of the Father is not easy, yet it is an essential prelude to the sacrifice which changes our lives and our perspective on life.  As we subordinate our wills and priorities to the Lord’s, we find that His will and priorities become ours as well.

IMITATING CHRIST'S JOY

Hebrews 12:1-3;   Luke 15:1-10;
John 17:1-13

SUMMARY
Jesus found great joy in fulfilling His mission, and His prayer to the Father, for us, was that we might know His joy.  Today, as we conclude our stewardship emphasis, we celebrate what God is doing in and among us!  We celebrate God’s promises being fulfilled in our midst.  And, we rejoice in the future ministry to which God is calling us as a congregation.
